Tianjin SwARC Automotive Research Laboratory Co., Ltd is a joint venture company jointly invested by China Automotive Technical & Research Center (CATARC) and Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) of the United States of America in 2005. The Company got CMA certificate in 2008 and is one of a few joint-ventured test agencies which can offer data or results testimonials. Since the establishment of the company, wide business connections have been built up with chief local catalytic converter suppliers and automotive enterprises.

 

The business scope of SwARC includes:

 

·Test research and evaluation on TWC for gasoline engine;

·Test research and evaluation on diesel emission aftertreatment devices;

·PM loading and ratio test in catalytic converters;

·USGR rig (small sample) evaluation and test;

·Test on auto oil products;

·The development of test protocols that can be published as standardized test procedures for evaluating exhaust after treatment devices or systems；

·Organizing and conducting the consortium research and development experiments and tests that serves the needs of the transportation and energy industries and the government as well;

·Technical and marketing consultation services.

SwARC is member units of Society of Automotive Engineers of China（SAE-China) and Committee of Vehicle Emission Control（CVEC）and accepts business guidance from National Passenger Car Quality Supervision & Inspection Center.

 

It is programmed to build 14 advanced test cells, among which 7 has been built up. The laboratories are equipped with top-leveled testing equipments and facilities, including engine benches, Fuel Oil Catalyst Aging System (FOCAS), Universal Synthetic Gas Reactor (USGR), Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectroscopy (ICP-MS), HORIBA MEXA 7500 exhaust analysis system, inlet air conditioning system, mini-dilution tunnel for particulate measurement, large balance, big oven, vibration test stand, axial pressure test stand, water quench test device, etc. Utilizing such equipments, SwARC can provide comprehensive research and evaluation tests services regarding automotive engine aftertreatment devices (systems) and catalyst.

 

So far, SwARC has had a professional research team which is composed by academic leaders, test engineers and technicians. Their major scope covers ICE, Automotive Engineering, Automotive Electronics, chemical, material engineering etc.
