The first meeting of drafting national standard-manifold catalytic converters

The first meeting of drafting national noncompulsory standard-Requirement and measurement methods of manifold catalytic converters was held on March 20, 2008 in Shanghai. Representatives from well-known catalytic carrier producers, catalyst suppliers, sealing enterprises and testing and research unit attended the meeting. The drafting units, their responsibilities and the timetable were made clear at the meeting. Ge Pingliang, Director of Technology & Marketing Department of SwARC, was elected as the leader of the drafting group.

To follow the emission regulations of Stage IV and V, stainless steel manifolds and manifold catalytic converters are widely adopted. Manifold catalytic converters bear higher thermal load because of the direct connection with engine exhaust manifolds and endure stronger thermal stress because of uneven flow and temperature fields. Besides those, the influence of back pressure caused by manifold catalytic converters is stronger than that of on the floor catalytic converters. So it is necessary to lay down criteria for requirement and measurement methods.

Mr. Ge Pingliang conveyed the requirements on drafting standards from the secretariat of NASTC- National Automotive Standardization Technical Committee and extended gratitude for early work done by CATARC and Wuxi Wei Fu Li Da and the trust and support from the drafting group.

The meeting was undertaken by Corning Shanghai.
